Introduction

African Prisons Project (APP) is a young charity founded to improve the welfare, health and education of detainees in Africa. We are a registered charity in England with our headquarters in London, whilst our operational base is being established in Kampala, Uganda.

APP has always been run by young volunteers - students and young professionals who want to make a difference. Increasingly we are supported by our advisors and partners. We provide school leavers and those from disadvantaged backgrounds with the volunteering opportunities. You can read about people involved in the APP team, or if you’d like to volunteer please contact us.

APP’s work stems from Alexander McLean’s visit to Ugandan prisons in his gap year before university - as described the pages on our history and awards received.
